The foundation stone was laid in December 1903 and the house was completed in June 1906. Built with 115 rooms, 41 of which were bedrooms, the hall has played host to several notable guests including the Queen Mother, Prince Charles and Captain Douglas Bader (Hero of the Battle of Britain).

The estate can only be accessed by road and is just minutes from the A19. Leave the A19 and enter the A67 and follow the brown signs to the hotel.

Please note that these directions lead to the back entrance of the hotel via the Five Houses Farm Shop. The main entrance to the hotel is 200m further south along the main road and clearly signposted.
